Meeting Minutes

 INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTS PAYABLE PROFESSIONALS-NORTH TEXAS CHAPTER

Quarterly meeting was held on November 14, 2007 at the Info Mart in Dallas , Texas .

Lunch and networking started at 11:00 a.m.

Sandy Champion, President of the NTIAPP Chapter, called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m.  Sandy thanked Dennis Fields with Business Imaging Systems for hosting and to Bell and Howell for providing lunch for our quarterly meeting.  Introductions were made and non-members were invited to fill out membership applications.

Sandy gave the floor to Dennis Fields, who introduced Joe Araujo with Sally Beauty, to present

“Implementing Imaging for Record Retention or How Accounts Payable Lead Implementation of New Technology without being Technology Gurus”.  See attached presentation. 

Chapter Business:

Many of our members described their AP recognition week, which was October 15 – 19, 2007.  Means of celebration and recognition varied greatly, but included such things as lunch, T-shirts, jeans day, game days, goody bags and banners.

Layne Littlejohn that we currently have 247 members in our chapter, including two new members from Cadbury Schweppes.  He recently mailed 1000 recruiting letters to area companies.

Sandy advised the group of some free Kofax training on November 7.  The class, which is ½ day,  provides CAPP and CAPPA credits. 

Sandy announced that Davina Yeany is the new IAPP Local Chapter Director.

Tony Fyke gave a short presentation and provided a handout for a Balance Consulting Form 1099 Year-End seminar she attended. 

Sandy then spoke for a few minutes on the importance of TIN Matching.

Sandy reviewed a newspaper article about a fraud scheme involving wire/ACH email instructions sent by email to the remitting party.  The instructions included fraudulent bank information, which directed $10M to the fraudster instead of the intended party.

The 2008 IAPP North Texas Chapter meeting schedule is as follows:

• Wednesday, May 21 at Michaels Stores, Inc
• Wednesday, August 20 at Infomart
• Wednesday, November 19 at Allstate Insurance
