Kathy DeBose,  Assistant City Manager of the City of Denton , welcomed us to their city.   She stated that the Accounts Payable department is a very important department in an organization.  An Accounts Payable Department holds the role of mediators, private investigators, counselors, helping vendors, etc.  She stated that she takes her hat off to Accounts Payable professionals!

Don Johnson introduced Deborah Carter to discuss Offshoring Accounts Payable.  Deborah stated that she enjoyed being involved with the local chapter of IAPP and the members, going to the conferences and seeing everyone.  Deborah stated that she was no longer with TXU and the reason she was at the meeting was to discuss Offshoring Accounts Payable to Krakow Poland .  Timeline of Events is attached.  Deborah stated that she didn’t hate it as much for her, but for her people.  She stated that the Krakow people caught on very quickly and it seemed to be working.  She stated that she had spoken to one of TXU ’s vendors and he stated that the invoices were being paid, but there wasn’t the personal feeling and contact like it use to be.  She felt like a major factor in the decision was that people in Krakow starting salary is $18,000 a year.  Deborah stated that she didn’t hold any hard feelings, that it was business.  Click here for a copy of the presentation.
