Education Committee update – Per an email from Melvina Floyd, at the recent National Forum, 56 people sat for the CAPA exam and 65% passed.  68 people sat for the CAP exam and 62% passed.  There are currently 128 CAPAs and 550 CAPs in the organization.  The next test window is 10/15 – 11/10/07.

Sandy advised that, while at the Forum, she learned that a Federal 2008 budget proposal includes language that could require 1099 reporting for all entities, including corporations.  The proposal also requires TIN matching and withholding for any that do not match.

Dennis Fields, chairperson of the 2007 IAPP Forum Committee, talked to the group about the forum.  He had a conversation with Nelda Barkley earlier in the day.  Nelda was most thankful for the assistance of the North Texas Chapter and expressed an interest in attending a future chapter meeting.  Dennis also thanked everyone for their help with the forum.  The forum next year will be held in April in San Diego .

Denise Stackhouse with KPMG won the Texas Gift Basket at the forum.  She graciously donated the Texas flag that few over the state capital to Sandy Champion in recognition of all her hard work supporting this year’s forum.

Sandy announced that the chapter is in search of a new Membership Committee Chair due to Ken Slaughter’s departure from Sally Beauty.   Amanda Dove with Freeman and Layne Littlejohn with Michaels have volunteered to take his place.

Dennis Fields asked for any donations of computer or other IT equipment and cell phones for the Battered Women’s Shelter.
