15, 2006 Meeting
Minutes INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTS PAYABLE
PROFESSIONALS-NORTH TEXAS CHAPTER Quarterly meeting was held on
held on February 15, 2006 at KPMG, LLP. Lunch and networking started at
11:00 a.m. Sandy Champion, President of the
NTIAPP Chapter, called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m.
Sandy thanked Denise Stackhouse and staff with KPMG, LLP for hosting and
providing lunch for our quarterly meeting. Introductions were made and
non-members were invited to fill out membership applications. Lisa Snyder, with Connolly
Consultants, also member of the Atlanta, Georgia Local IAPP Chapter was present
at our meeting. She was in town on
business and wanted to attend our meeting to take information and suggestions
back to the Atlanta Chapter. Don Johnson, VP of the NTIAPP
Chapter, reported that the North Texas Chapter of IAPP currently has 195
members, with 8 new members: Damaris
Barello, with McKesson Corporation, Teresa Beasley, with Chemical Lime Company,
Kathy Booker, with Celanese, Ltd, Johnalaine Brevelle, with Raytheon Company,
Karon Hanks, with Chemical Lime Company, Gail Johnson, with Chemical Lime
Company, Kasey Nichols, with Chemical Lime Company, and Lorrie Ransom, with SPX
Dock Products. Sandy Champion stated that we are
the largest single state Chapter and also have Chapters in Houston and
Austin/San Antonio areas. She
recalls that the New England Chapter has 206 members but it take 6 states to
make that chapter’s membership. Robin Hood, Assistant Controller
with KPMG, LLP, spoke about their company and thanked everyone for coming.
She closed with thanking the companies for allowing this type of
organization to be in the leading edge and getting away from the concept of
“always doing any project the same way”. Sandy turned the floor over to
Carrie Chambers, with Sabre Inc, to give a presentation on Best Practices in AP.
Carrie is giving this presentation at a workshop during the 2006 IAPP
Forum and asked for any suggestions or comments on the presentation.

Education Committee Update Sandy stated that she and Melvina
Floyd were members of the IAPP Education Committee.
Melvina Floyd could not be at the meeting today, but reported that during
the Fall Window of the CAPP exam, 63 candidates passed and 37 candidates passed
the CAPA exam. The Spring window was
March 18th through April 13th. Website Update Barbara Coakley, Webmaster, could
not be at the meeting. Sandy
reported that any changes of names, jobs, phone numbers, etc, had to go to the
National office and that the updates could be made on line. Membership Update Don Johnson gave the membership
report earlier in the meeting. 2006 IAPP Forum Sandy stated that the 2006 IAPP
Forum is going to be held May 7th through the 11th in
Orlando. Several members are going
to the Forum from the North Texas Chapter. She
said that the local chapter would try to meet one evening. Dennis Fields, member of the 2007
IAPP Forum “Welcome to Texas” Committee, stated that he wanted to show the
Forum a big Texas Flair! Dennis
commented that we needed to start discussing with vendors to perhaps sponsor a
big Texas reception; this would give the vendors the opportunity to put their
company in touch with several thousand prospective customers.
He stated that we needed to have a contest on naming the event.
Carrie Chambers, Treasurer for the “Welcome to Texas” Committee,
stated that we currently had $152.00 for the celebration. 2006 North Texas Chapter Meetings
