Meeting Minutes

INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTS PAYABLE PROFESSIONALS-NORTH TEXAS CHAPTER

Quarterly meeting was held on November 16, 2005 at Allstate Insurance.

There were 42 attendees at this meeting.

Lunch and networking started at 11:00 a.m.  

Sandy Champion, President of the NTIAPP Chapter, called the meeting to order at 11:00 and turned the meeting over to Don Johnson, Vice President of the NTIAPP Chapter, due to having laryngitis.  Don thanked Bob Fresneda, President of Readsoft, North America , for providing lunch for our quarterly meeting.  Don thanked all the Allstate staff that assisted in providing the facility and topic for the meeting.

Introductions were made and non-members were invited to fill out membership applications. 

Don introduced Ron Robinson, Senior Analyst with Allstate and Linda Fitt also with Allstate.  Ron presented Allstates’ Journey on Imaging and OCR.  Powerpoint presentation attached.

Jan Wallace, Secretary of the NTIAPP Chapter, conducted the chapter business.

Education Committee Update – The group was polled and only one person at Pepsi Co had taken the CAPA test from this area.

Website Update – The website was still down; the national office was in the process of moving to a new server.  The group was reminded to send any updates to the national office.  Don Johnson stated that when he resent the invitation about this meeting after the deadline, 30 more RSVPs posted.

Membership Update – The North Texas local chapter currently has 181 members with 7 new members as of 10-31-05.  Mona Botros with Perot Systems, Gene Brown with Alan Plummer Associates Inc, Todd deVos with PepsiCo, Cathy Harris with Oxy Inc, Tracy Lamkin with Cummins Southern Plains LTD, LeNelle Noble with Rexel Inc, and Susana Pena with Scientific Atlantic De Mexico.

2006 IAPP Forum – The group was reminded about the 2006 IAPP Forum to be held in Orlando Florida , May 7-11.

2007 IAPP Forum – Dennis Fields reminded the group that the 2007 IAPP Forum would be held at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas.  Dennis stated that he had located a bull to welcome everyone to the forum with a picture on the bull.  He thought about having a contest for a winning slogan for the forum.  This committee will continue to have new ideas for involving the Texas Chapters in the 2007 Forum.

A/P Recognition Week  - Allstate had an ice cream social, Freeman sent all their branches a bag of peanut brittle purchased from Brittle Twins, Melvina Floyd, owner and local NTIAPP member.  Also, Freeman sent a group picture of the AP Department via email to all the branches to be able to put a name with a face.  Pepsi Co offered massages to AP personnel who wanted them; had an ice cream social; and gave popcorn and movie theater tickets to all AP.

2006 North Texas Chapter Meetings

February 15, 2006 meeting will be hosted by Denise Stackhouse with KPMG and will be held at KPMG.  No topic of discussion has been set.

May 17, 2006 meeting still needs a host, location and topic of discussion.

August 23, 2006 meeting still needs a host, location and topic of discussion.

November 15, 2006 meeting still needs a host, location and topic of discussion.

Congratulations to the following people who won door prizes:

  • Dennis Fields, with Business Imaging Systems, Inc, won a thermal mug given by Resulte Universal, a ball cap and golf towel from Freeman, a calculator keychain from Carter Burgess, a grooming kit, pencil, screwdriver kit, magnifying glass from IAPP, and a tote bag given by Wyndham International.

  • Melanie Beard with the City of Denton, won a medical kit given by Concentra, a flashlight given by Hunt Oil, a crododile clip, pen, pencil, keychain, mouse pad, cup, note holder, badge given by DTV and the City of Denton, a smiley face, pencil, hand massager, magnifying glass and a tote bag given by IAPP.

  • Denise Stackhouse, with KPMG, won a tumbler given by Freeman, a clock given by Fijitsu, a lunch bag and keychain given by Hunt Oil, a finger ball given by Concentra, a pencil and magnifying glass given by IAPP and a tote bag given by Carter Burgess.

  • Regina Liby, with Oxy Inc, won a mug given by Concentra, a CD holder given by Freeman, a staple lifter given by Hunt Oil, a puzzle given by Sabre, a grooming kit,  pencil, magnifying glass given by IAPP, paper, pen and tote bag given by Perot Systems.

  • Carol Raulston won a travel mug given Carter Burgess, a shirt given by Concentra, mints given by Resulte Universal, a calculator given by Perot Systems, a pen given by Kofax, a magnetic clip given by Fujitsu, a pencil and magnifying glass given by IAPP, a copy of “The Art of the Steal” autographed by Frank Abagnale and a tote bag given by Hunt Oil.

  • Lynda Windham, with NCH Corp, won a Roaming Gnome given by Sabre-Holding.

Jan wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The chapter meeting adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
