INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTS PAYABLE PROFESSIONALS-NORTH TEXAS CHAPTER

Quarterly meeting was held on February 20, 2008 at Snelling Professional Services Inc in Dallas , Texas .

Lunch and networking started at 11:00 a.m.

Sandy Champion, President of the NTIAPP Chapter, called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m.  Sandy thanked Steve Scotti and Holly Hay with Snelling Professional Services for hosting and to Don Johnson with Allstate Insurance Company for providing lunch for our quarterly meeting.  Introductions were made and non-members were invited to fill out membership applications.

Don Johnson , Vice President of the NTIAPP Chapter, introduced Tami O’Quinn, Senior Systems Analyst, Project Manager with Sabre-Holdings Inc.  Tami gave an informative presentation on vPayments.  Travelocity uses vPayments.  See attached PowerPoint presentation.  Don Johnson stated that Allstate investigated vPayments in 2007.  After eliminating government entities, employees and service vendors, other vendors were matched to take the vPayment.  He stated that after analysising the potential rebates and implementation cost over 3 years, it would be worth pursuing, but due to other corporate initiatives Allstate put the project on hold. 

Chapter Business:

  • Membership Update -Layne Littlejohn, Membership Chairperson of the NTIAPP Chapter, stated that we currently have 221 members in our chapter, including 6 new members; Dee Davis-Owens with Crossmark, Paul Estep VCF, Susan Gore with American Heart Assocation, Tom Walker with Open Text, Misti Mendoza with McKesson Corp and Kimberly Clark with Snelling Professional Services Inc.

  • Website Update – Sandy stated that Barbara Coakley, Webmaster of the NTIAPP Chapter, is working with the national office because the server at the national office had been changed.

  • New CAPP Certification Study Manual – Sandy reported the national office needs help in developing a new study manual for the CAPP test.  There will be seven domains.  CAPP members could earn 5 CAPP credits if they submitted questions for the manual.

  • IAPP Forum – Sandy stated that the 2008 IAPP National Forum would be held April 20th through the 24th in San Diego California .  She stated that Frank Abagnale and Paul Sarbane would be speaking at the forum.

The 2008 IAPP North Texas Chapter meeting schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesday, May 21 at Michaels Stores, Inc and hosted by Concur. TOPIC – Layne Littlejohn “Key Performance Indicators”

  • Wednesday, August 20 at and will be hosted by KPMG, the topic discussed will be an IRS agent and 1099s.

  • Wednesday, November 19 at Allstate Insurance. Need at food sponsor. The topic will be decided at the May meeting

Sandy stated that Don Johnson had accepted another position at Allstate Insurance outside of Accounts Payable and would be stepping down as vice president on January 1, 2009.

  • Vanda Jobe with Alliance Data won an IAPP “We ‘Owe’ Everything to You” bag which included “My Life & The Principles for Success” given by Ross Perot, a luggage spotter given by SunTrust, a single slice cutter given by CorPay, a keychain calculator given by Digiscribe, a watch and bendable golf course given by MasterCard, a Frisbee given by FedEx and a pen given by Facility IQ.

  • Louise Costa with Concentra Inc won a Blockbuster bag which included a Frisbee, water bottle, and a pocket radio given by Blockbuster, a sticky note pad given by US Bank, a yo-yo given by Balance Consulting, an electric ball given by Stellent, a squishy head given by IAPP and a pen and calculator in case given by Broniec.,

  • Kim McGee with Freeman won a gift cup full of Snelling goodys.

  • Denise Stackhouse with KPMG won an IAPP bag which included a calculator given by Universal, a magnifying glass given by Broniec, a car sunglass holder given by US Bank, a pen with belt hook given by Fujitsu, a bubble massager given by Apex Analytix, a keychain with flashlight given by Audit Technology Group, a star shaped note holder given by Advantage IQ and a 1939 Big Ben Travel Alarm clock given by Dr Pepper/7UP.

  • Don Johnson with Allstate won a Bottomline Technologies bag which included a teddy bear given by Broniec, a Frisbee given by Blockbuster, 2 mooing cows given by Connolly Consulting, a squeezing baseball and tennis ball given by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, a yo-yo given by Direct Commerce, 2 rubber balls given by Concur Technologies, a slinky given by Travelocity, a bendable golf course given by MasterCard, and a softball given by Payables Analysis & Refund Recovery.

The chapter meeting adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
