Howdy!! From the Great State of Texas! Let me tell you a little bit about our chapter.   The North Texas International Accounts Payable Professionals (IAPP) Chapter was started in Dallas, Texas in l995 with 14 members and now has 200 members.  We are constantly growing and recently added several companies from West Texas cities to our roster.

I would like to introduce some of the people who help keep this chapter on its toes.   Sandy Champion of Transit Mix Concrete & Materials Company the President; Don Johnson of Allstate Insurance is the Vice President; Kim McGee of The Freeman Companies is the Historian; Carrie Chambers of Sabre, Inc. is our Secretary; Barbara Coakley of Carlson Restaurants Worldwide is the Webmaster; and Layne Littlejohn of Michaels, Inc. is the Membership Chairman.   The chapter meets once a quarter and the officers meet at least one time during the quarter to plan the next meeting.

The 2 to 3-hour quarterly meetings are held at one of the member's company sites.  The meetings are held around lunch which creates great networking opportunities.  We have had a chance to visit such companies as Allstate Insurance, KPMG, The Freeman Companies, Sabre and Business Imaging Systems.   50 to 70 people attend the quarterly meetings.  The next meeting location and the topic for discussion are decided among the participants.

Major topics the North Texas Chapter has discussed include EDI, Supplier Data Base Maintenance, Procurement Cards, T&E, Utility Bills, and workshops given at the IAPP National Forum.   General discussions have included topics such as SAP implementation, combining Purchasing & A/P, Sales and Use Tax issues, 1099-MISC procedures, and Re-engineering A/P.

The North Texas Chapter is the first local IAPP chapter to develop their own website.  It is a great communication tool since our chapter covers such a wide area.

Please look at each section to view the extensive involvement the North Texas Chapter members.
